If you need an overview of Links and the various other link types, see this page.
  • The Action Editor lets you set up more advanced buttons without coding
  • For example, you could make a button that, when clicked, scales up or down another asset, or triggers an animation on a 3D model, or modify other asset properties
  • It is still early days for our Action Editor, expect more here in the months ahead

If you add a link to an Asset like an Image, Text Label, or 3D model, one of the link types you can choose is “Advanced Link”. This then lets you bring up the Action Editor using the blue button you see at the bottom left corner of this screenshot:

When you open the Action Editor, it will look something like this, assuming it’s your first time in:

There’s your incredible button on the left. So, let’s add a trigger to it! Click the green “ADD TRIGGER” button.

👉🏽
A trigger is what the user has to do on the asset to make the action happen.

The only trigger we support right now is click/tap, but we have others coming soon (like proximity, hover, etc).

Now, you can add another trigger or add an action.

👉🏽
An action is what will happen when the user does the trigger, or in this case clicks on your incredible button.

Let’s add an action. Here are the options you will see:

image

  • set property lets you adjust a property of another asset in the Frame, for example its scale, rotation, or position
  • play animation will make an animation on a 3D model start playing
  • stop animation will make an animation on a 3D model stop playing

Let’s go with “set property”.

You will then see this menu where you have to pick which asset you want to change, the property you want to change, and the value you want to change it to.

In this case, I want my incredible button to scale up another asset in the Frame, specifically my Astronaut 3D model.

You can chain multiple actions to the same trigger, so I decided I also want to play one of the animations on the Astronaut model when the click trigger happens.

Here’s my set up after I configured both of my actions:

So, did it work? Take a look at the astronaut scale up and start animating!
